Recently, the landmark ‘Technology Tree’ structure at the Chengdu Futian TOD project, developed by China MCC5 Group, has been illuminated and put into operation.

This project, situated within Chengdu Future Science City, draws its design inspiration from the city's emblem tree, the ginkgo. Employing an all-steel structure, it achieves a distinctive umbrella-like form spanning approximately 60,000 square metres, utilising around 12,000 tonnes of steel. The ‘Technology Tree’ complex expands the spatial footprint of the Futian TOD through densely arranged umbrella-shaped roof units. Elevated station roof elements integrate with dynamically sculpted terrace podiums beneath the eaves, offering diverse leisure and recreational spaces for passengers and citizens alike. Within this interplay of ‘light forests’ and cascading water features, residents can discover novel leisure experiences.

In the future, this area will feature night-time consumption experiences, light festivals, MR metaverse experiences, and digital night-glow running tracks to create an outdoor sports-themed night-time environment. This will stimulate consumer activity among citizens and inject fresh momentum into the city's development.
